Why choose Wellington Trio d’Anches instead of a string quartet?

Wellington Trio d’Anches is a delightful, unique and less expensive alternative to a string quartet, to make your day more memorable. Our range of music is versatile.

How do the musicians dress?

We realise that excellent visual presentation is extremely important, and the trio does its utmost to have a classy dress code. Usually we all wear black but can add a splash of colour.

You can have the man dressed either in formal black tails or dinner jackets with black, white or coloured bow ties, or black trousers with either black or coloured shirts. The ladies can be attired in all black or else in beautiful coloured evening gowns.

What do you require at the venue?

We will need:

  • three chairs with no arms
  • a performance space of a minimum of 2 m x 1.5 m
  • somewhere to store our instrument cases and bags whilst we are performing
  • basic refreshments such as water and juice. If we are playing for a longer period any light snacks would of course be much appreciated

Will you play outdoors?

Wellington Trio d’Anches is happy to perform outdoors as long as the weather is warm and there is adequate cover to protect us and our instruments from the sun (and rain!) In a garden setting this could be under the full shade of a larger tree or in a gazebo tent. It could also be on a wide verandah or covered terrace depending on the angle of the sun. Please make sure you inform us of any intention to have us play outdoors when you make your booking.

How far in advance should we book the trio?

We have clients who book around a year in advance, through to some who book only several weeks in advance for other events, however the earlier you can make a booking the better, especially if you are planning a summer wedding as this is a popular and busy time.

How do we reserve a date or confirm a booking?

When you contact us and enquire about a certain date for your event, we will of course first need to check our availability. If we are available, and you accept the quote that we give you and would like to book us, then we will make a pencil booking for your date in our diary. This is called the initial booking and this means that the date is provisionally reserved for you. To further guarantee availability for your date and to secure the booking you will need make a deposit. See our terms and conditions.

Do we need to pay a deposit?

Yes, you will need to pay a deposit if you want to guarantee your booking date. The amount of the deposit is $150 for bookings up to $400, and $200 for bookings over $400. The balance of payment is due on the day of the event.

Can you perform a particular piece of music that is not on your list?

If you have a favourite piece that you would like us to play please ask. If we don’t, we are certainly willing to try and accommodate special requests. We treat each request on an individual basis.

Can you perform with guest singers?

The trio is happy to collaborate with other instrumentalists or vocalists for the wedding ceremony music, and we can communicate with them directly to work out the details. A fee will apply to any extra rehearsal time, and the amount of time needed depends on the music chosen.

When should we choose our ceremony music?

Generally, from the time that you book us, we will keep in touch and assist you if you need help with your music choices. A final decision about your ceremony music needs to be made at least 10 days before the event.

What do you do if one of your members is ill on the day?

In the rare case that one of our members is ill or facing a personal emergency on the day, we have (a pool of) replacement players of high standard who can step in.

Can we hear you play?

You can listen to the audio clips here. If you would like a comprehensive repertoire list, contact us at We are very happy to help you with your choices.
